Issey Miyakeの追悼記事（Fragranticaなのでもちろん香水軸）。
中盤に出てくる、赤くて丸いボトルのLe Feu d’Isseyが大好きだった。アクア系香水って日本の気候に馴染むよねえ。

His biography reads like a fascinating journey. Born in Hiroshima in 1938, Miyake was just seven years old when the city was devastated by an atomic bomb dropped by the United States. He was reluctant to talk about it as an adult, and wrote in the New York Times in 2009 that he did not want to be known as “the designer who survived the atomic bomb”.

Miyake wanted to be a dancer or athlete when he was young, but that changed after he read his sister’s fashion magazines. Instead, he studied graphic design at a Tokyo art university and then moved to Paris in the 1960s, where he worked with lauded fashion designers Guy Laroche and Hubert de Givenchy. After a brief passage through New York City, he returned to Tokyo and opened the Miyake Design Studio.

The scent cemented the ideal that fragrances for the 1990s should be transparent, a notion of clarity and transparence, which was dubious but well received at the time. The brushed aluminium and frosted glass presentation of the bottle, meant to reflect a drop of liquid, made a statement. Miyake was adamant that it should be so.

One of the most unusual (and swiftly discontinued for this reason) fragrances in the Miyake collection was Le Feu d’Issey. Affectionately called, by at least one perfume collector I knew, Pew d’Issey, because of its very weird melange of notes: from hot bread to coriander and lactonic notes of milk and coconut, seguing into a quiet woody and clean musky base. It’s one fragrance which fragrance critic L.Turin lamented the passing.

元々限定発売だった気がしてたけど違ったかな？バニラ系じゃない甘さがとにかく好きだった。

To be honest, Le Feu d’Issey is not that weird and actually quite wearable, and I personally enjoyed it, especially since the niche sector has opened up such strange avenues to which we have become accustomed. Still, in its time it was a flop, not salvaged by the launch of le Feu d’Issey Light. The bottle was magnificent, like a lacquered ball of fire, equal in wow and strangeness factor with the velvet-tipped videocassette flacon of Gucci Rush which followed.

そうなのよ、容器もおもちゃみたいでかわいかったのよなー。Gucci Rushはプッシュしづらかったけど、これはちゃんとしたスプレーだった。
